The Yellow Car Charitable Trust was founded in 2008. It was set up to make grants to specific projects identified by the Trust as offering particular educational and social benefits. Based in Saffron Walden, it has a particular interest in supporting initiatives that benefit the local community.
Our main focus has been the funding of Saffron Hall and associated funding for its professional, community and education programmes.
Our music-related mission is to support community and educational programmes which together help to promote life-long community engagement. We particularly wish to encourage large-scale ensemble music.
Our educational vision is of a future where state schools are able to compete with the private sector for students and where parents take an active role in supporting their local schools. Our message is that it’s ok to send one’s children to state school and it’s ok to give too.
Our hope is also that by being a leading example, we will inspire parents and other philanthropists to donate to state schools in a similar way.
